Certified B Corporations ("B Corps") undergo stringent assessments to ensure they meet high standards of global environmental, social, and business impact.

B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand’s inaugural Annual Report, released today, highlights how Miraka and other Kiwi B Corps are advancing sustainable and ethical business practices, despite recent government announcements indicating that the country is not on track to meet its future climate targets.

Between 2021 and 2024, the number of B Corps in New Zealand has more than tripled from 52 to 165.

B Corps are not waiting for government directives; they are proactively advancing towards reducing carbon emissions, minimising waste, and ensuring fair labour practices.

B Corps in New Zealand are twice as likely to achieve carbon neutrality and twice as likely to implement waste reduction or recycling programs compared to ordinary businesses.

I find this excerpt very encouraging because it shows that businesses can lead positive change even without waiting for government action. The rapid growth of B Corps in New Zealand proves that more companies care about sustainability, fair labor, and reducing waste. When I read about organizations taking smart action like this, it reminds me of the determination and momentum needed to succeed in Ragdoll Hit.
