Miraka to feature in new season of TV show Home, Land and Sea

Taupō low-carbon dairy company, Miraka, will feature in a new season of the popular television show, Home, Land and Sea early next year.  The programme showcases Māori entities which champion kaitiakitanga, innovation and an intergenerational approach.

CEO, Karl Gradon, said it is a privilege for Miraka to be a part of the show's third season.

“Māori enterprises are often founded upon a te ao Māori worldview and values.  We’re no different.  Our visionary leaders, who are also cornerstone shareholders, founded Miraka upon a long-term intergenerational view which encompassed te ao Māori and key values such as kaitiakitanga,” said Mr Gradon.

Producer of the new show, Nicola Smith, of Jack Media said “We’re thrilled to welcome Miraka to the third season of Home, Land and Sea. Their commitment to sustainable practices and their dedication to kaitiakitanga are inspiring.”

“The story of Miraka aligns with our vision of showcasing Māori organisations that are making a significant impact through innovation and environmental stewardship. We look forward to highlighting their journey and contributions to both the local and global community in the upcoming season.”

Miraka Kaihautū (Cultural Leader), Eileen Bowden, said the business proudly embraces and preserves its founding values and Māori identity.

“There are numerous other organisations like Miraka with aligned values – for example, Wakatu Incorporation, Manawa Honey and leading farming enterprise, the Wi Pere Trust.  They featured in the first two seasons of Home, Land and Sea and their stories also inspire us.”

Filming for the show’s third season will soon get underway with the Miraka episode expected to go to air on Whakaata Māori in early 2025.
