Keen to grow your career and become our next Quality champion?
Miraka is proud to be New Zealand’s first Māori-owned milk processing company – and the first in the world to run on clean, renewable geothermal energy.
Since launching in 2010, we've been guided by a Te Ao Māori world view, with kaitiakitanga – care for the land, environment, and people – at the heart of everything we do.
Our plant near Mokai, just 30km from Taupō, has one of the lowest carbon footprints in the industry – producing 92% fewer emissions than traditional coal-powered factories. We process over 300 million litres of milk each year, sourced from farms within a 100km radius.
Miraka is also one of Aotearoa’s largest Māori export businesses, sending more than $300 million worth of high-quality dairy products – like whole milk powder, UHT milk, frozen cream, and custom milk powders – to over 17 countries worldwide.
Who we are looking for:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Analyst helps ensure our products are safe, high quality, and meet customer and regulatory standards. This hands-on role involves reviewing test results, grading and releasing products, preparing certificates, sending samples, and running in-house laboratory tests. It also includes maintaining lab equipment, supporting staff training, managing data for materials and inventory, and contributing to GMP audits and documentation. The role supports continuous improvement by identifying quality trends, assisting with investigations, and helping drive product and process improvements.
You’ll have good attention to detail and numeracy and be confident working with data in a range of computer applications such as Excel.
Ideally, you’ll have had some laboratory training and experience. A post-school science or laboratory-based qualification or work towards one will be considered favourably.
What you need to know:
• The position is based at our Mokai factory, 30km northwest of Taupō.
• Your hours will be a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday.
• The Quality Analyst is part of a fast paced, high performing Quality Team.
• You will report to the Quality Manager.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
This role is all about making sure our products meet high quality and safety standards. It includes organising and completing product sampling and testing, checking results, and ensuring everything meets company specs and customer expectations. Responsibilities also include grading finished products, releasing them to market, and preparing accurate Certificates of Analysis.
You’ll be regularly communicating verbally and in writing with other business functions including production, warehouse and the sales teams.
Maintaining and updating product information, setting up testing plans in our ERP system, and approving ingredients for production are key parts of the job. There’s also a focus on monitoring raw milk quality, tracking material use, and keeping inventory data accurate.
A good understanding of lab equipment, calibration and troubleshooting is preferred.
The role also covers environmental swabbing, sample dispatch, in-house testing, and making sure procedures and records are kept up to date.
