FOOT AND MOUTH IS A MAJOR CONCERN AND BIOSECURITY THREAT TO AOTEAROA - NEW ZEALAND
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious and infectious viral disease.
It affects cloven-hooved (two-toed) animals such as cows, sheep, goats and pigs. It is an animal health disease.
An outbreak of the virus here would have a detrimental impact on animals, farmers and New Zealand’s economy.
