Murray Hemi joined Miraka in early 2019. He has a mixed background having worked as a historian, contract writer, iwi environmental manager, and executive manager in a science research institute, GNS Science. He has particular strengths in communication, strategic planning, and organisational thinking.
To be sustainable and successful long-term, Miraka must make products the world loves - made in a way that would be a source of pride for our communities. Murray’s role is to build the pathway, te ara Miraka ki te kotihi, to a sustainable and successful long-term future. Reducing natural resource use, adopting regenerative/restorative production practices and engaging community in collective action will require a commitment to change. Being new to the dairy sector, Murray arrives with a different set of eyes and a different way of thinking. He is a thinker and communicator with a passion for people, the environment and kaitikaitanga.
