Miraka Chairman Kingi Smiler has been the driving force behind the establishment of Miraka. A vastly experienced businessman, Kingi has held a number of directorships including the NZ Wool Board, Wool NZ and Canesis Wool Research. A former partner in Ernst and Young, he spent 8 years in Toronto specialising in business planning and corporate restructuring.
Currently a director of Mangatu Incorporation and the Wi Pere Trust Kingi is also the Chairman of Wairarapa Moana Incorporation, itself a founding shareholder in Miraka. In 2013 Kingi was awarded the Federated Farmers 2013 Allflex Agri-Business Person of the Year for his gifted business leadership of Wairarapa Moana Incorporation and his breakthrough developments in Maori Agri-business. Kingi has also chaired the Ahuwhenua Trophy Competition management committee for almost two decades.
He is a keen Ironman competitor and over the past 20 years has competed both nationally and internationally.
