ABOUT US
KO MĀTOU
NAU MAI | WELCOME
Miraka is New Zealand’s first Māori owned milk processing company and the first in the world to use renewable geothermal energy.
Miraka was established in 2010 by a small group of Māori trusts and incorporations and was founded upon a Te Ao Māori worldview which placed kaitiakitanga - the care of the land, people and the environment at the heart of the business.

VALUES FIRST
Miraka is a values-based business founded upon Te Ao Māori (a Māori worldview). Kaitiakitanga – caring for the land, people and the environment is one of our core values.
FROM OUR FARMS
TO THE WORLD
Miraka is one of New Zealand’s largest Māori export businesses with exports of more than NZD$300million.
Our premium whole milk and skim milk powder, frozen milk concentrate, UHT, customised powders and frozen cream products are exported to markets around the world.

LOW-CARBON
FOOTPRINT
We have one of the lowest manufacturing carbon emissions footprints in the world.
Our plant at Mokai, 30km northwest of Taupō, uses geothermal steam and because of that emits 92% fewer carbon emissions than coal-fired plants.
Our annual carbon emissions savings is equivalent to taking 7,000 cars off New Zealand roads for one year.

MIRAKA.
Nurturing our world.
